Yoyo in Houston
I have always like doing travel videos for yoyo, and a couple weeks ago I was able to film a video in Houston. While I was in Houston with my family, we made a trip to the campus of Rice University. On the campus is an architectural sky light sort of thing (Official name: “James Turrell's Twilight Epiphany Skyspace”). The skyspace is a beautiful piece of art and a great background for a yoyo video, so filming commenced.
Music is very important for my videos and I wanted to accent this latest video with a special piece of music. As a person who makes YouTube videos and constantly watches my own and other’s videos many thoughts go through my head of what my identity is and where it comes from. I often see myself as “I’m not enough” or the other extreme, “I’m better than that guy” I’m either insecure or very prideful. Both of these extremes are inaccurate. My latest, “‘Doubt’ by twenty one pilots,” video is centered around these doubts of myself and who I am. The contrast between light and dark exhibited in the video is to illustrate the extremes of thoughts of pride and worthlessness.
When watching the video you might wonder: “what are the different clips of video that appear at different times on a black background?” If you look closely you will see that the “clips” are YouTube Shorts of me, representing different thoughts and views of myself. Listen closely to the lyrics of the song and you will realize why I incorporated those clips at that point in the video.
A huge shout-out to twenty one pilots for making such an awesome song and great music in general! If you don’t know about twenty one pilots, then START LISTENING TO THEM!
