Getting Inspiration
As an artist, getting inspiration is crucial to keeping the creative flow going. A lot of my inspiration comes from music and movies, obviously, but also from taking walks and spending time with people.
Recently I have been listening to a little bit of Macklemore and Andy Mineo. Both have given me a lot of inspiration because of how diverse and eccentric their new albums are.
In 2023, Macklemore released his album “BEN” which gave a scope into the personality, interests and life of Macklemore. What I love most about this album is how different each song is. The album starts with a great intro song called: “CHANT” which brings the listener into his world with a roar.
However, after “CHANT” the songs transition to more of a pop sound rather than his typical rap. I love how Macklemore had the openness to have a lot of variation culminating in a beautiful album.

Okay, now Andy Mineo.
Andy Mineo has a vibrant personality with a distinct sound. Recently he released his full unofficial album called: “For Promotional Use Only.” The album features a large variety of songs related to a variety of different things.
This album thinks outside the box to say the least, and this is what I admire so much. Andy Mineo could have said, “I am a rap artist who makes rap albums,” but that’s not what he said. He chose to experiment a little.

Andy Mineo and Macklemore both allowed their personality and love of art take more priority than the certain section of career that people put them in. Both have been influential to me.
This a random picture I took at a baseball game which I think demonstrates inspiration well. Amidst all of the distractions inspiration creeps through like a light.
